MNCA Men's U-23: REYS cruise as CRAU, YUCC, KASC struggle past opponents

REYS delivered a commanding performance to thrash AL-AMEEN by seven wickets in the 2nd MNCA Men's U-23 Haobam Biramangol Singh Memorial Trophy 2024-25 .
The match, played at the Public Ground, Khangabok, was a tale of two contrasting innings, with REYS' bowlers setting up the game before their batsmen finished the job with clinical efficiency.
AL-AMEEN elected to bat first but were bundled out for a paltry 81 in just 25.4 overs, their innings derailed by a combination of tight bowling and poor shot selection.
Only three batsmen managed double-digit scores: opener Mohammed Farooque (22 off 51 balls), Md Sharoz Khan (19 off 22), and Md Raeesh Khan (15 off 28) .
The rest of the lineup crumbled under pressure, with five batsmen failing to score.
The destroyer-in-chief was Ringku Kangujam, whose remarkable spell of 7.4 overs yielded seven wickets for just nine runs, including four maidens.
His pinpoint accuracy and ability to extract movement left AL-AMEEN's batsmen clueless.
He was well-supported by Naoshekpam Manglemba Meetei (2/35) and skipper Sapam Bikash Singh (1/6), who also contributed with a miserly spell.
Chasing a modest target of 82, REYS made light work of the total, reaching 82/ 3 in just 15.2 overs.
Captain Sapam Bikash Singh anchored the innings with a fluent 35 off 41 balls, striking five boundaries.
Naoshekpam Manglemba Meetei (28* off 38) provided solid support, ensuring there were no hiccups in the chase.
AL-AMEEN's bowlers struggled for breakthroughs, with only Shohel Akter (1/12) and FM Sakil Ahamed (1/24) managing to take wickets.
CRAU emerged victorious by a narrow margin of 6 runs against MODEL in a nail-biting encounter at Model Hr Secondary & Oriental College Ground.
CRAU won the toss and opted to bat first, posting a competitive total of 200 all out in 26.3 overs.
Their innings was powered by a blistering knock of 74 runs off just 36 balls from Thongam Joychandra, who smashed 8 sixes at a staggering strike rate of 205.56.Ph Jodash (33 off 24) and Taibangnganba Konsam (21 off 11) provided valuable contributions to the scoreboard.
For MODEL, Suson Yanglem Singh was the standout bowler, claiming 5 wickets for 25 runs in his 7.3 overs.
In response, MODEL fought valiantly but fell short, bowled out for 194 in 39.5 overs.
Thoudam Deepak Singh, the MODEL captain, led from the front with a composed half-century (50 off 50), while Biyon Naorem (31 off 34) and Irungbam Tonton (33 off 44) chipped in with crucial runs.
However, CRAU's bowlers held their nerve, with Thongam Joychandra (3/23) and Khumanthem Prakash Singh (2/28) delivering match-winning spells.
YUCC fought their way to a 13-run victory against RCA.
Batting first, YUCC posted 135 all out in 32.1 overs, with Ningthoujam Rohit Singh top-scoring (66 off 93 balls) .
RCA's chase fell short at 122, despite Md Alfash's 47 and Aziz Mirza's unbeaten 26.YUCC's bowlers, Ningthoujam Sanjit Singh and Devraj Nongthombam, starred with 3 wickets each.
In the day's other fixture, KASC defended a modest total of 91 to defeat ESU by 3 runs.
ESU were bowled out for 88 in 24.5 overs, with KASC's Bm Irfan delivering a match-winning spell (6/24) .
Earlier, Md Sharif Khan (22) and Irfan (18) were key contributors for KASC.
ESU's Hanjabam Naoba Sharma (19) fought hard, but Irfan's brilliance sealed the win.
