Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, December 26 2023: WYC-Wangkhem beat NAPSA-Kha Imphal and KSDO-Kyamgei defeated NCA by 4 wickets to seal their third straight victories in the ongoing 4th MNCA Luwangpokpa T20 Trophy today.

At Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, WYC were bundled out for 97 runs in 16.5 overs as NAPSA bowlers were at their best forms.

But their sub-hundred total was more than enough to beat NAPSA as Huirongbam Biteshwor bagged four wickets (4/11 in 4 overs) to lead in subduing NAPSA for 56 all out in 18.3 overs.

Laishram Kipajan (3/10), Heisnam Boney (2/15) and Nepram Richer (2/29) of NAPSA did well to trouble WYC batters after the latter team opted to bat first.

Mangi Sharma Gotimayum scored the highest 24 for WYC followed by Ruhit Nongmaithem 17 and Priyananda Thokchom 10 not out.

Chasing 98 for the win, NAPSA top order batters had short stays on the crease as Thoudam Roshankumar removed top two batters on the way to his 2/17 finish and Borish dismissed Y Bijaykaran to make it 12/3 in 3.3 overs.

Huirongbam Biteshwor then bowled out NAPSA's highest run getter H Boney 18 for the fourth wicket in the 7th over before getting rid of Albert Sorokhaibam to reduce them to 28/5 in 8.2 overs.

He went on to bowl out Rocky Yumnam and Yaikhom Casper to make it 50/9 and finish with the best haul of 4/11 before Borish Khomdram (2/9 in 3.3 overs) caught and bowled out Nepram Richer for his second wicket and held NAPSA all out for 56 runs.

H Biteshwor, who led WYC to third Group A victory on the trot with his impeccable bowling, was adjudged man of the match.

In a Group B match staged at Moijing Public Ground, TCMDC-Thnogju Part II Pechu Lampak notched up a 10-wicket win by bowling out YWC-L for 56 runs within 16.1 overs thanks to Kongbrailatpam Kalyan Sharma.

K Kalyan ripped apart the YWC-L line up by sweeping 6 wickets all alone (6/15 in 4 overs) after the Langthabal team won the toss and opted to bat first.

Heisnam Manikanta 15, Ngangbam Bikramjit 12 and Maibam Subash 10 were the double digit run getters for YWC-L as four of their batters sent back on ducks.

N Arbin of TCMDC also picked two wickets (2/11 in 4 overs) while H Babulu and Th Tuljit chipped in with a wicket apiece to set up the YWC-L collapse.

The first wicket partnership between Maibam Ashikumar 27 and Moirangthem Sunanda 22 was enough for TCMDC to seal the victory in 10.2 overs.

Kalyan Sharma who shone with a 6 wicket haul was adjudged man of the match.

Elsewhere at Lairenjam Public Ground, AKSDO-Khangabok chased down a target of 86 runs set by YAC-Yaiskul within 15.5 overs to post their second win in three matches.

YAC won the toss and opted to bat first.

But AKSDO bowlers put in a concerted effort to bowl them out for 85 runs in 19.5 overs despite Abocha Laishram's 23-ball 23 .

Akash Laishram (2/13), Rosan Laishram (2/21) and Prameshwor Moirangthem (2/0) of AKSDO enjoyed two wicket hauls in this innings while three others picked up a wicket apiece.

In reply, Prameshwor Moirangthem 23, Winchelly Laishram 16, Bishorjit Mangang 13, Laishram Samson 13 and Akash Laishram 10 played their parts to seal the victory with 5 wickets left to spare.

Joychandra Ngangom of YAC picked two wickets in this innings.

Prameshwor Moirangthem who starred with both the bat and ball was adjudged man of the match.

Meanwhile in the Group D match staged at Model Hr Sec and Oriental College Ground, brilliant performances from Bobby Yumnam and Angom Robinhood for NCA went in vain as KSDO eased to winning 131/6 in 14.3 overs after NCA posted a target of 130 runs for 6 wickets.

Bobby Yumnam hit a 64-ball 60 and Angom Robinhood added a 27-ball 48 to lead NCA to 129/6 after winning the toss and opting to bat first.

The innings saw Shajahan of KSDO claiming 4 wickets by conceding 26 runs in his spell of 4 overs while Khushru Pravez and Lakimbur picked up a wicket apiece.

In reply, Md Arif Khan 36 off 24 balls, Khushru Pravez 48 off 27 balls and Tarique Aziz 18 steered KSDO to sniffing distance of a win before S Shah Nawaz his a four in the first delivery of the 15th over to end the chase.

Shinoj Khwairakpam was the pick of the NCA bowlers fetching 3 wickets in 4 overs while A Robinhood finished with an expensive 2/34 .
