COSMO, SSA win in Dr Kanti Mukherjee Hockey

Imphal, January 25 2013: COSMO, Wangkhei and SSA, Charangpat beat their respective opponents and won today's matches of the ongoing 14th Dr Kanti Mukherjee Memorial Invitation Hockey Tournament 2012-13 organised by Hockey Manipur at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium, Imphal.

The first match was played between COSMO, Wangkhei and Hockey Union, Lairikyengbam Leikai.

The match was won by COSMO after defeating HU 7-4 .

K Boy of COSMO drew the first blood in the 5th minute of the match.

It was soon equalised by H Krishand of HU in the 14th minute.

After three minutes, Th Kingson of HU scored one goal in the 1th minute and bring his team up in the lead.

Kh Rabikanta of COSMO equalised the score in the 37th minute.

He was followed by his teammate RK Bikramjit with a goal in the 49th minute of the match.

Kh Debeshwar added another goal in COSMO's account which took the team in the lead with the scoreline at 4-2 .

Short of one goal, HU played the match with better coordination and Th Kingson scored one goal in the 59th minute which narrowed the goal difference to one goal.

But COSMO was soon enough to react and scored another goal through RK Bikramjit in the 61st minute.

HU players reacted soon and L Bikram scored one goal in the 62nd minute of the match.

Amidst the tight situation in which the players find them locking horns with one another to get a hold of the situation, HU players saw a ray of hope to win.

However their hope was shattered when Debeshwar of COSMO added two more goals against them in the 68th and 69th minutes of the match.

Now short of three goals, HU players raced against time to equalise the situation.

But they could not get enough time to reclaim the situation and had to accept their defeat.

Later, in the second match, SSA, Charangpat beat YCCIC, Ahallup 4-3.M Bronson of SSA scored two goals in the 3rd and 11th minutes.

H Mani and H Thoungamba also scored one goal each in the 27th and 36th minutes of the match respectively.

On the other hand, the three goals of YCCIC were scored by N Maheshwor, N Priyokumar and W Deepakumar in the 15th, 42nd and 58th minutes of the match respectively.
