2nd H Biramangol Memorial trophy : RCA retain title with 6-wicket thrashing of PCC

RCA, Lilong thrashed PCC, Mayaikoibi by 6 wickets to successfully defend the title of MNCA U-23 Men's Haobam Biramangol Singh Memorial Trophy in the second edition of the tournament.
PCC opted to bat first this morning at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground but were dismissed for 115 runs in 34.3 overs before defending champions cruised to the winning total of 117 in 21.4 overs with 6 wickets left to spare.

PCC had the worst possible start to their inning as they lost a flurry of 6 wickets for just 36 runs within 14.1 overs with pacers Iliyas and Aziz Mirza leading the bowling attack for RCA and inflicting early damage.
Kangujam Boocker (26 off 29) and Wairokpam Max (39 off 64) gave PCC some respite by forging 42 off 52 for the 7th wicket but Max and Boockers' departure in quick succession marked the turning point for the innings.
Mairembam Lucky 12 off 37 and Loitongbam Anjan 10 not out off 13 too struggled with the bat before PCC folded up their innings with a paltry total of 115 in 34.3 overs.
Aziz Mirza of RCA returned with the best bowling figures of 3/14 in his spell of 8 overs that include one maiden as Naesh Hussain claimed another bulk of three wickets to finish with the bowling figures of 3/25 in 8 overs including two maidens.
Iliyas meanwhile finished with 2/19 in his spell of 7.3 overs studded with two maidens.
In reply, Md Alfash (51 off 49) and Syed Sami Ul (22 off 49) gave RCA a flourishing start stitching together 73 off 94 for the first wicket before Takhelmayum Vikash and Thokchom Lucky of PCC shared three wickets to reduce RCA to 81/4 in 17.3 overs.
Aziz Mirza 20 not out off 14 and Md Anush 14 not out off 12 however stood up to the challenge and resurrected the innings from 81/4 by adding together 36 runs off 25 balls for the fifth and eventually sealed the victory within 21.4 overs.
Takhelmayum Vikash (2/14) and Thokchom Lucky (1/28) were among the wickets for the Mayaikoibi team.
Aziz Mirza who produced an all round performance was adjudged player of the match and eventually feted with a cash prize of Rs 2,000 and a trophy.
His compatriot Zamir Khan who collected as many as 23 scalps in 9 innings was declared highest wicket taker and feted with a cash prize of Rs 3,000 and a trophy.
Khwairakpam Ulenyai of SCC meanwhile emerged highest run scorer adding 459 runs in 5 innings and received a cash prize of Rs 3,000 and a trophy as PCC's Takhelmayum Vikash walked away with the player of the series title carrying a cash prize of Rs 7,000 and a trophy.
Winners RCA were also feted with a cash prize of Rs 70,000 and a trophy while the runners up PCC had to settle for a cash prize of Rs 40,000 and a trophy.
