Football: Goa defeat Manipur, set up final clash with Services

Imphal, March 07 2024: Manipur fans were left devastated as Goa defeated the team 2-1 in the second semi-final match of the 77th National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy at Arunachal Pradesh today.

Goa will now play the final against Services, which defeated Mizoram 2-1 in the first semi final match.

In the semi-final match today, Manipur had an early lead of 1-0 against Goa with a goal in the 16th minute.

Goa, which got many chances, failed to score until it found an equalizer just two minutes away from the final whistle in the 90+6 minute.

With the 1-1 scoreline remaining unchanged till the end of the 8 minutes added time, the clash continued in the 30 minutes extra time.

Goa became more dominant in the extra minute and took a 2-1 lead with a goal in the 116th minute.

Manipur found a few chances but failed to equalize before the end whistle.
