YPHU-Nongin trounce YWC by 107 runs to seal XIII T20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament title

YPHU-Nongin (N) claimed the title of the XIII T20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament-2026 as they thrashed YWC, Langthabal by 107 runs at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, Luwangsangbam today.
YWC had to regret their decision to field first as they saw YPHU-N erecting a comprehensive total of 180 runs for three wickets, thanks to sensible knocks from Then Then and Jinta Irengbam.
YPHU-N bowlers then dismantled the YWC lineup with ease for 73 runs within 14.2 overs to seal the 107-run victory and deservedly lift the title of the 23-team league-cum-knockout tournament organised by the Manipur Veteran Cricket Association.

YPHU-N started cautiously with Dhaneshwor (27 off 29 balls; 2 fours and 1 six) and Yumnam Robin (25 off 23 balls; 3 fours and 1 six) adding 42 runs for the first wicket in 7.1 overs.
Then Then and Jinta Irengbam then took charge of the batting onslaught, forging a 115-run partnership for the third wicket until Jinta was dismissed for a 30-ball 45 that included 2 fours and 4 sixes.
Then Then, who hit L Sasi for a four to complete his half-century in 28 balls, remained unbeaten on 69 off 35 balls, with Boiton 3 not out off 3 balls to take YPHU-N to 180/3.Tejkumar returned with the best bowling figures of 2/36 for YWC, while Abujam Rojeshkumar picked up one wicket (1/26) .
Chasing 181 for victory, YWC never looked in contention as wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals.
YWC suffered early jitters and slumped to 18/4 in 3.5 overs, with L Surjit and Rajesh Khangembam inflicting major damage.
The collapse continued despite P Prakashmani trying his best to hold things together, as Jinta removed Gojendra for the fifth wicket in the 7th over.
Jinta also went on to remove Prakashamani for 19 to leave YWC struggling at 38/6 after 7 overs, returning with bowling figures of 2/16 in 3 overs.
Sarangthem Sanjitkumar also joined the fray to dismiss YWC's second-highest run-scorer, Laishram Dinachandra on 14, for the 7th wicket in the 1st delivery of the 10th over, before removing M Ashokumar two deliveries later.
Sanjitkumar finished with figures of 2/19 in 4 overs.
YWC further slipped to 55/9 as Priyokumar got run out on the 1 st delivery of the following over.
L Surjit then put YWC to the sword by getting rid of Abujam Rojeshkumar (11 off 16 balls) for the 10th wicket on the second delivery of the 15th over, walking away with the best bowling figures of 4/17 in 3.2 overs.
Jinta Irengbam, who shone with both bat and ball, was declared Man of the Match and feted with a cash prize of Rs 1,000 and a trophy: He was also named man of the series.
YPHU-N walked away Rs 20,000 richer with the title triumph, while YWC settled for a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and a trophy.
The winners' prize was donated by Khundrakpam Bijoy and his family in fond memory of his beloved father, Late Kh Mani Singh of Uripok Khaidem Leikai, while the runners-up prize was donated by Lairenjam Geetranjan Singh, Secretary, MNCA of Kwakeithel Mayaikoibi in memory of his mother, Late L (O) Ahalya Devi.
The semifinalists (YPHU-Warrior, Lalambung Makhong and TCMDC, Thongju), Man of the Series, highest runscorer - Dhaneshor of YPHU-N (270 runs), highest wicket-takers (Surjit - 18 wickets), and others were also feted with prizes sponsored by many generous donors.
