Chairperson elected
Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal District has declared that Heikham Chaoba, Councillor Ward No 4 of Wangjing Lamding Municipal Council, Wangjing has been elected uncontested as new Chairperson of Wangjing Lamding Municipal Council, Wangjing.
This was informed by Presiding Officer/ Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal District T Ranjit.
IMANIKL bans all drugs
Irom Meijrao's 'meira paibis' and clubs have jointly taken a resolution to ban any kind of drugs and the abuse at the area by any group or individual.
Any defiance of the ban will be punished by 'meira paibis' and clubs and the decision will be taken as final, said a press release issued by Irom Meijrao Apunba Nupi Iramdam Khunai Lup (IMANIKL), Secretary, Y Ibemhal.
Local Council CPI condoles
IMPHAL, APR 18 (HNS): Keishamthong Local Council CPI expressed deep sense of sorrow at the death of (L) CPI leader Thangjam Babu of Keishampat Thockchom Leikai in a condolence meeting held at Jounarlist N Deben's residence along with members of All Manipur Nupi Marup.
The meeting then observed a one minute silence to condole the departed soul, said a press release issued by the CPI local council's Secretary, L Sarat.
Leisemba Sanajaoba condoles
Titular king of Manipur, Leisemba Sanajaoba condole the demise of Manipur Legendary persona B Jayantakumar Sharma.
Leisemba Sanajaoba recollecting the contribution of Jayantakumar Sharma to the society claimed that the loss of such person cannot be compensated .

Sensitization Programme held
One day Sensitization Programme on Climate Change in Agriculture was held on Saturday at ICAR Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat.
CAU professors L Nabachandra, N Arunkumar and N Ajit of ICAR attended as resource persons.
Paddy seeds, groundnut seeds and Soybean were distributed to 35 farmers who were selected in the seven districts of Manipur.
DESAM welcomed AMMEK's proposal
Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has welcomed the proposal made by All Manipur Matam Esei Kanglup (AMMEK) of recognizing (L) B Jayantakumar's song 'Sana Leibak Manipur' as the State Anthem.
DESAM also extended its support in striving the State Government recognition for same, said a press release issued by DESAM Publicity Secretary & Propaganda, Premchand Tongbram.
Appeal against strike
AYUSH Department and Vision Foundation Manipur together will be organizing a State Level AROGYA Fair from April 24 to April 27.In this context an appeal is smade not to impose any blockade/general strike during the fair, said a press notification issued by Directorate of Information & Public Relation (DIPR).
