Imphal, January 18, 2011:
Three activists of KCP (MC) Moramba group were apprehended with a hand grenade by Assam Rifles from different places in the last 24-hour.
One of the activists identified as Md Nahatomba alias Abdul Majid alias Tomba (23) of Yairipok Singga Mayai Leikai was nabbed by troops of 28 AR yesterday around 4.30 pm from near the MMTA office, Minuthong.
He is allegedly involved in the extortion of ` 30,000 from a hardware store in Imphal and working under the command of one Momo from Chandel.
The troops nabbed two more activists of the group from Hatta Golapati and Yairipok area.
They were Md Akbar alias Sherkhan (35) son of Md Javer Ali of Yairipok Tulihal and Md Rajauddin Chaudury alias Rajou (21) of Assam's Sonaipur village.
The hand grenade was seized from Akbar who was picked by the troops from his rented house at Hatta Golapati, a source said.
