Training concludes
The valedictory function of a one month training programme on "Shumang Leela Tradition" organised jointly by Theatre Mirror and Manipur State Shumang Leela Council will be held on August 2 at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen.
The programme will be graced by K Radhakumar, Secretary, Art and Culture and social worker S Manaoton.
Go Green
12 Bihar organised a Go Green drive at Salam village yesterday.
Around 200 saplings including fruit bearing, medicinal and ornamental trees were planted by locals and troops of 12 Bihar.
Salam Gram Panchayat Pradhan Thoudam Dwijamani, Ward Members Maibam Onichandra and Yumnam Inao and village chief Netrajit also took part in the drive.
UG cadre held
Troops of 12 Bihar and Imphal West district police commandos arrested a KCP cadre from Samurou today.
He has been identified as Ng Damen (35) s/o Hemachandra of Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai.
One 9 mm pistol along with two live rounds and one toy pistol were seized from him.
He has been handed over to Lilong police station, said a source.
Guru Purnima Mahotsav
Socio-Economic Industrial and Cultural Organisation (SEICO) observed Guru Purnima Mahotsav at the community hall of Singjamei Chanam Pukhri Mapal today.
Bharat Swabhiman Trust and Pantanjari Yoga Samiti general secretary Hillary Langhu, Ningthoujam Nilima Devi and Laimayum Shantikumar Sharma graced the function as dignitaries.
VA penalises
Pantilong Village Authority has penalised Nathaniel Kamson s/o (L) Phunjanglung Kamson for tarnishing the image of the village by committing a cyber crime.
In a statement, the village authority said that Nathaniel was arrested by a team of Nagaland police some months back.
He would be ostracised from the village if he repeats such crimes in future, the statement said.
Bureaucrats reshuffled
The State Government has reshuffled the posts of 113 IAS and MCS officers in an order issued by Department of Personnel late to night.
The reshuffled bureaucrats included 20 IAS officers.
Errata
Apropos to the news item published on the third page of this daily on July 31 under the heading, 'Discussion session held', the name of the organiser of the programme must be read as Singjamei Apunba Nupi Lup and not as published.
The oversight is deeply regretted.
Rapid Action Force
Highlighting the State's prevailing law and order situation, the Home Department has written to the Ministry of Home Affairs to send two companies of Rapid Action Force (RAF) .
Although a written representation was sent to the MHA yesterday to this effect, there has been no response so far, informed an official source.
Curfew relaxation
The District Magistrates of Imphal East and Imphal West have issued separate orders relaxing curfew from 5 am till 8 pm tomorrow (August 1) .
Restrictions however under Section 144 of the CrPC will be in place.
Prohibitions on assembly of five or more persons, carrying sticks, stones, firearms and weapons of any description will continue as before.
