CPI blames IFCD for flood

Blaming the Irrigation and Flood Control Department (IFCD), Manipur for the current flood situation, the State Council CPI Secretary Dr M Nara said that the situation in most parts of the valley has worsened due to lack of planning of the department.
IFCD has not been doing its duty and so the people of the state especially valley districts are suffering, said Nara at a sit-in protest staged at Keishampat.
Meanwhile, Pradhan of Khangabok Part III GP has informed that the flood water in Thoubal district has submerged more than ten thousand paris of paddy fields at Khangabok part III, Keipha Loukon, Mounubi, Kopati Loufam, Hangam Loukol, Kiyam Loukon, Sagaimakhong Loukon, Soimakha Loukon, Bihu Loukon, Tentharam Loukon, Umurou Loukon and Kamakhong Loukon.
Apart from the paddy fields, many fish farms have also been flooded, said the Pradhan.
While appealing to the authorities to look into the matter at the earliest, the Pradhan also added that many houses have been inundated since the water level is increasing.
