Draft ILPS Bill almost ready: Dr Ng Bijoy

A large number of pro-ILP protesters from Khurai in Imphal East on Friday stormed the residence of Congress MLA Dr Ng Bijoy who is one of the key members of the Drafting Committee for ILP Bill constituted by the State Government.
Earlier, Coordinating Body of ILPS, Khurai organized a massive sit-in protest from Lamlong Keithel to Khabeisoi.
Hundreds of people took part in the demonstration braving inclement weather and pouring rain.
The protesters demanded enforcement of Inner Line Permit System and punishment to police personnel involved in Sapam Robinhood's killing.
Later, around 3:30 pm, a protest rally participated by around 500 people was taken out from Khabeisoi.
The demonstrators shouted many slogans like "Implement ILP," "Resign weak and unfit legislators" and "Suspend police personnel responsible for the death of Sapam Robinhood." Personnel from Imphal East Police Station attempted to stop the rally but a few protesters were later allowed to meet MLA Ng Bijoy at his residence where they submitted a memorandum to him.
The MLA assured them he would consider the memorandum that listed nine points.
Ng Bijoy told journalists that the reports regarding resignation of three members of the Drafting Committee were not correct and assured that the three legislators, including himself, had no intention of quitting the Committee.
Asked about the progress of the Drafting Committee on the new ILP Bill, the MLA said the preparations are nearly all complete.
Ng Bijoy stated that the Manipur Government wants an ILP bill in congruence with the Constitution and that the Constitution can be amended hundred times to fulfill the public demand.
