Assistance pours in for flood affected people

The water level of Nongdambi and Wangjing river continue to rise flooding majority of the places at Wangjing Tentha, our correspondent reports.
Local clubs at Wangjing have set up relief camps for affected people in the area.
Local MLA P Brojen visited the flood hit villages of Wangjing today handing over relief materials to the people.
However, no aid has reached the affected people of Kairembikhok yet, Kairembikhok Students' Union and club secretary Surchand Usam told media persons.
He appealed to the State Government to sanction necessary relief for the people at the earliest.
Troops of 26 Sector, Assam Rifles and 22 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector also organised basic relief camps for the affected people of Kakching, Pallel and the adjoining areas.
The Kakching badminton court has been earmarked as a relief centre where a total of 1000 people have been provided shelter, food, water and medical help.
The Assam Rifles have also geared up to extend all help and assistance to people of Waikhong and Pangaltabi of Thoubal district, in the face of the flood threats.
Wangbal to Wangjing area along Imphal-Moreh road has also been flooded hampering vehicular movements along the route.
The streets, houses and agricultural lands at Wangjing High School to Wangjing Houdamba area were seen partially submerged.
Another RCC bridge at Heirok part II facing Heirok bazar had partially sunk owing to strong current, our correspondent reports.
The bridge was completed in December 2009 .
Meanwhile, people residing along the banks of Imphal river at Sugnu in Thoubal have started moving away to higher grounds as the water level has increased.
Local leaders, NGOs, social workers continue to providing flood relief material to the affected villages.
Khangabok MLA O Landhoni along with Khangabok Kendra Youth Congress Committee co-ordinator Kenedy visited the flood hit areas of Khangabok today.
The MLA donated 15 bags of rice, 50 kilograms of pulses, 10 kg of salt, 7 kg of oil, one bag of potato, 15 kg of onion, 3 kg garlic and 200 litres of kerosene for distribution at 15 different camps opened at Khangabok.
Education Minister Okendro also handed over 4000 litres of kerosene and 100 bags of rice to Khangabok Congress Youth Committee for distribution to flood affected villagers.
