Imphal, July 31 2015 :
Chief Justice Laxmi Kanta Mohaptra of the Manipur High Court (MHC) has ordered on Friday to allow Prof S Sekharjit to discharge the duties of the Director on expiry of 3 weeks from the date of the communication of the MHC order.
Observing that "there is no provision either under the Rules or Regulations or in the bye laws to relieve a Director from the post" the Chief Justice asked the RIMS authority to pass the necessary order in terms of Rules and Regulations within 3 weeks failing which Sekharjit should be allowed to discharge duties as the Director.
The Chief Justice did not agree with the counter affidavit which stated that the impugned order was passed to minimise discomfort to Sekharjit.
The MHC noted that Sekharjit was asked to vacate the quarters, electricity was disconnected, no salary was paid to him till the court directed for payment.
The court also noted that the allegations in the complaints are "very serious in nature" .
They include corruption in appointments of various staff, corruption in procurement and contract works and non-availability of basic requirements in the hospital.
The high court directed to pass the necessary order within 3 weeks.
