Imphal, March 28 2025:
Dr Sinam Rajendra, former head of RIMS's Neurology Department, successfully treated a man with testicular torsion without surgery yesterday.
Addressing the media at Manipur Press Club today, Dr Rajendra said that testicular torsion is a rare condition.
Saying that treatment for testicular torsion mostly requires emergency surgery, he added that his patient, however, was successfully treated without surgery.
The torsion was corrected by untwisting (derotation) the testicle.
He warned that delayed treatment of testicular torsion can lead to severe and serious health complications.
Appealing to the people to trust the medical professionals in Manipur and avoid travelling to other States for treatment all the time, Dr Rajendra added that Manipur now has many excellent hospitals.
Meanwhile, Director of Ultra Care Sonoscan and Ultrasonologist Dr Amar advised people with a scrotum issue to determine whether their condition is due to infection or torsion urgently.
If the scrotum issue is an infection, it can be treated with medication, however, the torsion case has to undergo surgery within six hours, he added.
Saying that most of the testicular torsion cases require surgery, he maintained that yesterday's patient, however, was treated without surgery.
