Newly commissioned Army officers feted

Seven students of Guardian Defence Academy (GDA), Naorem Leikai, who have been commissioned as officers into the Indian Armed Forces, were felicitated today.
These seven officers viz Sub Lieutenant Laishram Avinash of Wabagai Makha Leikai (Indian Navy), Lieutenant Ronendro Angom of Phayeng (Indian Army), A Naoton Meitei of Thoubal Ningombam (Indian Army), Lieutenant M Denish of Kakching (Indian Army), Lieutenant Meghnath Soibam of Thoubal Kiyam Wangmataba (Indian Army), Lieutenant Thokchom Shidarth of Ningthoukhong (Indian Army) and Lieutenant Naoba Meitei of Khongampat Khunou (Indian Army) are part of a group of nine officers from Manipur who recently joined the Indian Armed Forces.
The felicitation ceremony held at Naorem Leikai was graced by Langthabal AC MLA Karam Shyam, retired Lieutenant General Konsam Himalay Singh, Brigadier Robeen Chatterjee (Commander of 26 Sector Assam Rifles), Manipur Equestrian Association president retired Lieutenant Colonel L Manongba, former Principal of Imphal Art College Aribam Ekanta and Naharol Yaiphakol president Naorem Irabot as presidium members.
At the function, Konsam Himalay said that Manipur, despite its small size, significantly contributes to the Indian Armed Forces, with around 450 officers currently serving in the forces.
He said that the number of officers exceeds 700 officers if BSF, CRPF, and other Central Armed Police Forces are included.
Further, Konsam Himalay stated that five Army officers from Manipur currently hold the rank of Brigadier, with one having retired yesterday.
Saying that Manipur is the State which produces the maximum number of officers in the Indian Armed Forces per capita, he added that Manipuri youths possess the qualities to become excellent Army officers.
He also mentioned that officers from Manipur have achieved numerous accomplishments in the Indian Army.
Encouraging the newly commissioned officers to work even harder than they did while preparing for the National Defence Academy (NDA) exam, as their journey has just begun, he urged them to strive for excellence with the belief that the sky is the limit.
