Joint meeting resolves

Tamenglong, December 23 2016:
Zeme Naga Council, Liangmei Naga Council and Inpui Naga Union held a meeting on December 22 at Shekinuh Inn, Tamenglong and resolved to appeal to the Centre, State Government and UNC to immediately take up steps to solve the ongoing issue.
The meeting also reiterated that the land belonging to the Nagas should not manipulated by any authority for any purpose without the consent of the Naga people.
The meeting also condemned the creation of new 7 districts and said that the State Government did not take the consent of all the stakeholders and such undemocratic and arbitrary decision has hurt the sentiments of the people therefore it would endorse the economic blockade.
Stating that the issue should be handled with utmost care and understanding, people should refrain from using violence, abusive language and inflammatory speeches against any person or group.
The meeting also urged the authorities concerned to release UNC leaders Gaidon Kamei and Stephen so as to facilitate peaceful dialogue at the earliest.
During the meeting, it was also confirmed that no incident of detaining any individual in Tamenglong district took place as alleged by some sources.
Except for illegal trafficking, there is no restriction on people travelling to and fro Tamenglong.
The meeting further said that Zeme Naga Council, Liangmei Naga Council and Inpui Naga Union will monitor the present situation collectively under one committee known as "The Monitoring Committee" .
