Imphal, October 05 2026:
Suspected Kuki militants burnt down a house belonging to a Liangmai family at Leimakhong Chingmang under Leimakhong police station at around 10 pm on October 4, 2026 .
Suspected armed Kuki militants came to Leimakhong Chingmang and burnt the house belonging to one Simon Chawang of Konsakhul at around 10 pm yesterday, said the sources.
The Konsakhul (Kon-saram) Village Authority has condemned the "premeditated arson" attack on the residence of Stephen Chawang, a member of the Naga community, at Leimakhong Chingmang on October 4 at around 10.10 pm .
In a statement, the village authority alleged that the attack was carried out by cadres of KNF (P) and KRA, resulting in the house being gutted.
It said that all important documents, household belongings and property worth Rs 10 lakh have been reduced to ashes.
The village authority said that no militant groups operating under the Sus- pension of Operation (SoO) pact should be allowed to terrorise civilians or destroy their homes and properties "with impunity" .
When the people of Manipur are yearning for peace and normalcy, such acts of violence against innocent civilians are unacceptable and deeply disturbing, it said.
The village authority urged the Government of India to rein in Kuki militant groups immediately.
It also urged the Centre and the State Government to take immediate and decisive action, conduct a thorough and impartial investigation and bring all those responsible to justice.
