Imphal, December 23 2016:
Investment of greater share of funds and implementation of a number of development programmes in the hill districts have nothing to do with electoral politics, asserted Chief Minister O Ibobi.
He stated that the development programmes were not aimed at securing votes but were based on the need to bring uniform development across the State.
He was speaking at a one day political conference held at Tuibong Peace Ground today under the aegis of the Churachandpur District Congress Committee.
With a view to bring uniform development across the State, the State Government has been paying special attention to remote hill areas.
The State Government has been planning to construct a power sub-station of 132/33 KV each at Thanlon and Tipaimukh.

Regarding the proposal, the Ministry concerned suggested that it would be better not to invest huge funds in areas which are inhabited by limited number of people.
Nonetheless, the State Government would make all efforts to make all the facilities available at Imphal accessible in remote areas too, Ibobi asserted.
After seven districts have been created, more districts may be created, if necessary.
But it is essential to provide and install adequate manpower and infrastructure for the seven districts already created.
Creation of new districts does not mean handing over any part of the State's territory to a particular community.
The whole territory of Manipur belongs to the Government.
It was rather disheartening that some people were claiming some portions of the State's territory as their ancestral land.
Talking about road infrastructure, Ibobi stated that 80 per cent of the State's fund for PMGSY was invested in hill districts.
The State ranks 4th in the entire country in terms of implementing PMGSY.
If the people of Manipur wish for peace and harmony, they ought to support Congress party.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam reiterated that no other political party is suited to the soil of Manipur except Congress.
There were many political parties which professed to be patriots but none of them lasted long.
On the other hand, Congress is one political party which acts in accordance with the pulse of the masses, Gaikhangam added.
HAC Chairman Dr Chaltonlien Amo, PHED Minister T Manga Vaiphei, MPCC president TN Haokip, Parliamentary Secretary Vungzagin Valte, MLA Ginsuanhao, MLA Phungzathang and MLA N Loken were also present at the political conference.
