Health Minister L Jayantakumar has conveyed that the stand of National People's Party's (NPP) course of action on the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) will be announced by the party's president, Conrad Sangma, on November 29 .
He made the statement today in reply to a query by media persons after participating in the closing ceremony of the 6th CAU Inter Collegiate Youth Festival cum Games and Sports Meet which was organised by the College of Agriculture, Iroisemba, CAU Imphal from November 18 .
The Minister stated that a meeting for the workers of NPP operating in all NE region will be held at Guwahati on November 29 and during the said meeting, NPP president Conrad Sangma will announce the course of action to be taken by the party on CAB.
As for him, Jayantakumar explained that he had already announced his stand on the Bill, before the MP election.
It may be mentioned that the event was attended by L Jayantakumar, VC of the university, Prof M Premjit Singh, Director of Instruction, Dr S Basanta Singh, Director of Extension Education, Prof Ratan Kumar Saha and Dean, College of Agriculture, CAU, Imphal, Prof Indira Sarangthem as dignitaries.
323 students from all the 13 constituent colleges of CAU established all over NEH region, except Assam, took part in 25 events.
College of Agriculture, CAU, Imphal, emerged as the overall team champion and College of Horticulture and Forestry, Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh, was placed in the runner up position.
All the individuals and team winners were awarded with medals and certificates.
In addition to this, the HK Jain Award in Agricultural Sciences for the year 2016-2017 and 2017-18 were awarded respectively to Dr BN Hazarika, Dean, College of Horticulture and Forestry and College of Agriculture, Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh and Dr Ajay Kumar Vashisht, Associate Professor, College of Agricultural Engineering and Post Harvest Technology, Ranipool, Sikkim.
The Best Teacher Award for CAU was awarded to Dr Bireshwar Sinha, Assistant Professor, College of Agriculture, CAU, Imphal.
