Rs 3.18 crore settled in second Lok Adalat

The second National Lok Adalat for the calendar year 2026 was held across all District Courts and the High Court of Manipur and its settled cases worth Rs 3.18 crore.
The Lok Adalat was organised by the Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA), in association with the High Court Legal Services Committee (HCLSC) and District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs).
Justice A Bimol Singh, Executive Chairman, MASLSA and Justice A Guneshwar Sharma, Judge, High Court of Manipur inspected the proceedings of Lok Adalat at the Lamphel Court Complex as well as Bishnupur Court Complex.
During the inspection, the Judges interacted with judicial officers, members of the Lok Adalat benches, Advocates, litigants, and media persons.
At Lamphel Court Complex, Justice A Bimol Singh and Justice A Guneshwar Sharma handed over Lok Adalat Awards to some of the parties and congratulated them for successfully resolving their disputes through the platform of Lok Adalat.
Justice A Bimol Singh stated that a total of 37 pending Court cases and around 2,385 pre-litigation cases were listed for settlement in today's Lok Adalat.
He further observed that conventional litigation often consumes considerable time and money and may continue for 10 to 20 years, whereas disputes before Lok Adalat can be settled instantly in a cost-effective and amicable manner.
He emphasised that mediation is another important form of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) being actively conducted by the Manipur State Legal Services Authority & District Legal Services Authorities for settlement and disposal of disputes.
He mentioned that ADR mechanisms such as the Lok Adalat significantly contribute towards reducing the pendency of cases in Courts.
The cases taken up during the National Lok Adalat included both pre-litigation matters and civil cases pending before various Courts, such as original suits, money suits, bank recovery cases, matrimonial disputes, MACT cases, and other civil matters.
A total of 229 cases with a settlement amount of Rs 3,18,40,938 were successfully resolved during the National Lok Adalat.
