Free legal aid services launched

Free legal aid services for marginalised communities were launched today at the office of Community Network for Empowerment, Palace Compound by Justice Kotiswar Singh, Judge, High Court of Manipur and executive chairman of Manipur State Legal Services Authority.
The legal aid clinic would provide free legal services to marginalised sections of the society particularly female sex workers, people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS, transgender and people using drugs, according to a statement issued by CoNE.
Eligible persons accessing legal aid under MALSA are provided court fee, advocate, process fee, and all charges payable or incurred in connection with legal proceedings.
Similar clinics are coming up soon at Sajiwa Central Jail, Kakching and Moreh in Chandel district.
MALSA is also setting up one legal aid clinic each in all the districts of the State, the statement added.
