Imphal, January 20 2015:
Extending warm greetings and best wishes to the citizens of the State on the occasion of Statehood Day, 2015, Governor Dr KK Paul has called upon all concerned to work unitedly and relentlessly to make Manipur a prosperous State.
In a greeting message, Governor Dr KK Paul conveyed his firm belief that the State, with its potential of human resources, is capable of doing wonders in the field of development by rising above narrow interests.
The Governor noted that the long cherished dream of the people of the State was fulfilled when it attained Statehood 43 years ago on Jan 21, 1972 .
Manipur became equal partners with other States in the country in building a modern India and along with it came the responsibilities and opportunities.
New developmental avenues have opened up and it is in the hands of the people of the State to shape their destiny, he said.
Since attaining Statehood, Manipur has, indeed, made rapid strides in the field of development and sustained effort is being made to keep pace with the rest of the country.
But Manipur is still lagging behind and there is need of a renewed effort for the welfare of its citizens.
Further, the growth and development should be based on equity where all citizens of the State irrespective of caste, creed or religion feel the sense of belonging to an egalitarian society, he added.
