Imphal, January 20 2015:
In protest against the shifting of Laingoubi Residential School under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) in Bishnupur district to an alleged unfavorable place, locals of five villages along with students of the school staged a sit-in-protest on Tuesday.
Speaking to news-persons on sidelines of the protest, L Nando, secretary of Khullakpat Youth Athletic Organization (KYAO), said that the academic session of Laingoubi Residential School commenced from February, 2013 after its establishment in November, 2012 .
He stated that around 200 students from Laingoubi, Khoijumantabi, Khullakpat, Borayangbi and Chairel Leingang are enrolled in the school and received the light of education which is essential for these villages.

However, students are compelled to face difficulties especially after the school was shifted to Chairel Mangjing which is a hilly area situated around 2-km drive from Laingoubi, he lamented.
Around 1.25 acres of land was donated by one Kh Khelendra s/o (L) Kh Tombi for construction of the school at Laingoubi.
His sacrifice went in vain after the government decided to shift the school from the village, he added.
Pointing out that DC Bishnupur had given approval for construction of Laingoubi Residential School at Laingoubi itself on June 22, 2012; the secretary of KYAO urged the concerned authorities to bring back the school to Laingoubi from Chairel Mangjing at the earliest failing which the organization will resort to launch intense agitation.
