Clarifying that the ruling Congress government has nothing to do with MLA of Andro Constituency, Th Shyamkumar who has threatened to resign over alleged misconducts and wrongdoings on part of the Ministers, Education Minister M Okendro, who is also the spokesperson of the government, rubbished the allegations made by the MLA against the Ministers as 'baseless' .
Addressing a press meet at his office at Secretariat on Tuesday, Minister Okendro said that the decision of MLA Th Shyamkumar to resign is his individual matter and so the government has no connection with the call of the MLA at all.
He countered that the MLA has used derogatory remarks against the government while hurling the allegations which are all unfounded and added that MLA Shyamkumar belongs to Trinamool Congress party so his resignation call has nothing to do with the government.
If he resigns eventually, one thing that the government could do is to hold a bye-election in Andro Constituency through the channel of State Election Office which is mandatory, the Minister said.
Referring to the charges made by MLA Shyamkumar against the government regarding the outbreak of rabies in different parts of the State which has claimed lives of people, Okendro asserted that effective measures have been put in place to tackle the outbreak.
An emergency Cabinet meeting was convened on January 19 wherein it was decided to take up necessary measures to tackle the outbreak of rabies.
Health officials in all districts have been also directed to administer anti-rabies vaccine to dogs.
Further, the government has given approval for release of funds that will be required by the Health Services and Veterinary Department to tackle the menace.
There is no question of the government taking the rabies issue lightly, the Minister elaborated.
