Imphal, January 20 2015:
Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) has demanded the inclusion of Moral Science in the curriculum of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM) from the academic session 2015-16 .
Speaking at a press meet held at its head office located at Keishamthong Top Leirak, MSF vice-president Lucky Konsam said that they had placed the demand in the hope that the subject would, in a way, instill good morals among the youth which in turn would hopefully decrease the number of crimes and violence in the State.
Reports say that the State Government is attempting to set the revised curriculum of lower and middle classes in the 2007 format and the upper classes in 2009 format, Lucky informed.
These formats, however, do not include Moral Education as a part of its curriculum.
The organisation therefore urged the State Government to include the subject in the revised curriculum/syllabus of BOSEM, especially in the lower and middle classes.
The revised syllabus should not be deemed applicable until Moral Education is inserted, Lucky insisted.
Naming the framing of the State's academic curriculum as the sole responsibility the State's Council of Educational Research and Training, Lucky alleged that the Council is not functioning as it ought to.
He has therefore appealed the State Government to take action against the Council.
