Imphal, January 20 2015:
'The Meetei-Naga problem should be brought to its conclusion through mutual understanding between Meeteis and Nagas.
As their histories, their solutions may be different but the two solutions should have a meeting point.
Another force cannot solve the Meetei-Naga problem' .
This was stated by Thuingaleng Muivah, Ato Kilonser of NSCN (IM) on December 31 last during a meeting with Chingsubam Wangambi, leader of Meetei National Front (MNF), who is also the chairperson of Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba Ningsing Lup (LUCANIL) and N Tomba, executive editor of Pandam daily.
The meeting was also attended by Mathankhui Zimik, vice-chairman of R Suisa Trust and Ngasathing, Deputy Kilonser of NSCN (IM).
Muivah observed that there may be a conflict between the Meeteis and the Nagas for the time being but a time will come for its solution.
Nagas and Meeteis must determine their own destinies.
A right person is needed for this to happen.
Chief Minister O Ibobi cannot bring mutual understanding between the two groups, he maintained.
Describing Oja Akaba as a man gifted by god, Muivah noted that the two groups are again on the path to mutual understanding and reconciliation due to the efforts of a man like Oja Akaba.
As a goodwill gesture, a framed photograph of the twin statues of love, peace and fraternity of Oja Akaba and Oja Suisa erected at Wakha Leima Ching was presented to Thuingaleng Muivah.
Appreciating the gift, Muivah said that Meeteis and Nagas will have a meeting point if they follow the paths of the two leaders.
Maintaining that those who respect the rights and follow the paths of Oja Akaba and Oja Suisa who understood the histories of both the Nagas and the Meeteis will do well, he acknowledged that it is incredible to find a wise man and far-sighted man like Oja Akaba amongst the Meeteis.
It may be mentioned that with the firm belief that the people of the hills and plain must unite as they are one, Oja Akaba and Thuingaleng Muivah, Ato Kilonser of NSCN (IM) decided to meet in the early part of 2007 .
Oja Akaba was assassinated before the meeting took place.
Family members of the deceased and leaders of MNF met Muivah on three occasions and on December 31, 2014 for the fourth time.
Leishemba Sanajaoba, King of Manipur earlier met Muivah in the office chamber of the steering committee of NSCN (IM) at Hebron.
Chingsubam Wangambi, leader of MNF has also met Muivah in Delhi.
Notably, the twin statues of Oja Akaba and Oja Suisa will also be installed by S Suisa Trust and LUCANIL at Kulakaphung (Mount of Mirror), Hongmahn Village in Senapati district on April 17, to mark the death anniversary of Rungsung Suisa.
