Imphal, August 29 2025:
Amidst the shortage of LPG/cooking gas in the State owing to poor condition of the National Highways affecting goods transport, the movement of CRPF convoys has been halted for two days.
According to an official source, the movement of CRPF convoys has been suspended for two days (from today) due to the shutdown of a bailey bridge near Nungdolan in Tamenglong district along the Imphal-Jiribam Road (NH-37).This comes after the General Manager (Project), PMU-NONEY of the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) requested the Additional Director General of Police (HR/HG) to suspend CRPF convoy movement for 2 days to give them time to repair the bailey bridge.
Owing to this, the movement of CRPF convoys from Imphal to Jiribam and vice versa along the NH-37 has been suspended from today till tomorrow.
As such, no CRPF convoys were observed along the highway today.
On another note, 30 diesel, 22 petrol and 9 LPG bullet tank trucks reached Imphal yesterday.
This consignment of fuel is expected to bring some relief to the State's declining stock of petrol and diesel, especially in view of the suspension of CRPF convoy movement for 2 days.
However, the situation is likely to revert to its state after a few days with available fuel stock remaining low.
The fuel trucks which arrived at Imphal yesterday had been stranded along the NH-37 unable to reach the State capital.
Reportedly, there are not many loaded fuel trucks on the way.
Under such circumstances, fuel trucks are unlikely to arrive here for the next ten days as transportation usually takes at least ten days.
On the other hand, the condition of LPG stock in the State continues to remain bleak even after the arrival of 9 LPG trucks.
Amidst such developments, IOCL officials have notified their retail outlets to avoid selling all of their available stock of petrol and diesel.
