Imphal, April 09 2016 :
Continuing with their campaign against violation of statutes by la-bourers and construction firms, the JCILPS pulled up eight migrant labourers today too who could not produce necessary documents.
Volunteers of JCILPS pulled up eight migrant labourers from inside the campus of Standard Robert Higher Secondary School, Langthabal.
While six were in possession of forged documents, two had no identity proof documents.
Speaking to media persons, JCILPS assistant con- venor Ng Deva said that all the eight labourers did not possess documents which are mandatory under the Inter-State Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act 1979 and they have been handed over to Singjamei police station.
He informed that JCILPS has already started checking migrant labourers working in organised sector and they would soon launch a similar drive against migrant labourers working in unorganised sectors.
For engaging migrant labourers who do not possess valid documents, JCILPS has banned many construction works/projects including the Civil Secretariat.
