A sleuth of National Investigating Authority (NIA) of Union ministry of home affairs led by a superintendent arrived here today for investigation into abortive attempt to blow up a car bomb inside the Imphal Raj Bhavan on September 18, 2009 and two times attack at the Chief Minister's bungalow by exploding bombs during the year 2008 .
On September 18 last, a car fitted with 25 kg of explosive material, three hand grenades and two mobile phone handsets to trigger blast was found parking inside the highly protected Imphal Raj Bhavan.
In the latter day, KCP-MC (Lanheiba Group) own up the attempt to blow up the car bomb.
Taking serious note of the abortive car bomb attempt inside the highly protected Raj Bhavan complex the Union Home Ministry proposed NIA to investigate into the incident.
The MHA also proposed to investigate into the bomb blast incidents inside the Chief Minister's bungalow, an official source said Sunday.
The State Government has acceded to the Home Ministry's proposal for investigation into the incident by the NIA recently and the sleuth arrived to initiate the investigations into the incidents, it added.
The NIA sleuth led by Superintendent, NN Debey arrived here in Imphal by a flight from Imphal today at 12.30 pm.
They will stay here Imphal and investigate into the incidents, the source maintained.
A high level team of the Manipur police led by IG Intelligence LM Khoute has been investigating into the daring car bomb attempt after registering a case under FIR NO.92(9)09 City PS US 121/121-A/307/506-IPC, 16/18/20UA(P)AAct, 08, 25(I-B) Arms Act &4-Explosive Substance Act.
During the course of investigation four persons arrested and detained under NSA apart from placing three civil police personnel on duty at the entrance gate of the Raj Bhavan under suspension from their service.
Earlier, bomb attacks were carried out at the Chief Minister's bungalow two times by the proscribed outfits PREPAK and KCP (MC) separately in the year 2008.Since the series of attacks on the VVIP areas, the Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) took over the charge of guarding the Chief Minister Bungalow and Raj Bhavan.
The personal security guards of the Chief Minister had also been replaced by the personnel of the Special Security Guard (SSG) of the CISF but Governor Gurbachan Jagat refused to guard him by the SSG.
