Spreading its wing ahead of the next Assembly election, the office of the Khurai Youth Congress Committee was inaugurated today with MANITRON Chairman, MLA Dr Kh Ratan as the chief guest.
Speaking at the function, president of the Manipur Youth Congress Committee, MLA M Prithiviraj said that during the Congress led SPF Government, the State has seen many developmental works being taken up.
The people of Manipur have reposed their faith in the Congress for its track record of bringing the State on the track of development, he declared.
Drawing comparisons, the MLA said that when Manipur was ruled by non-Congress parties, the State faced acute financial crises.
Recruitment of police and teachers were the priorities of these Governments while development of the State was pushed to the back burner, he claimed.
Claiming that non-Congress parties do have the interest of the minorities and the hill people, Prithiviraj said that with the coming of the Congress led SPF Govt, many development schemes have been launched in the hill districts.
To take the State forward, many schemes such as the National Rural Health Mission, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, NREGS, have been taken up.
Such schemes not only give employment opportunities to the poor but also give them access to primary health care, pointed out the MLA.
During the inaugural function, office bearers of the Khurai Youth Congress Committee were also elected.
The Khurai Youth Congress is set to organise a series of training programmes, non-political programmes as well as career counselling programmes for students studying in Class X and Class XII.
Public distribution system in the area will also be checked and steps would taken up to ensure that the agents distribute essential commodities enlisted among the PDS items like rice and kerosene at regular interval.
A number of Congress functionaries including Education Minister L Jayenta, MPCC vice president T Mangibabu, former Minister N Bihari Singh, MPCC general secretary Bidyapati etc were present.
