Imphal, April 25 2010:
A Lok Adalat convened at Court complex Lamphel today ordered compensations to the tune of Rs 26.8 lakh while settling 17 cases related with motor-vehicle claims pending with the Oriental Insurance Company.
Judge of the Family Court, Manipur, Ph Surendra presided over the Lok Adalat in which advocate K Manorama and L Bijoy were the members.
A total of 21 pending cases related with the motor-vehicle accident claims referred from the court were taken up by the Lok Adalat and settled 17 claims.
The biggest amount negotiated by Lok Adalat was Rs 5.50 lakhs which related to the death in the motor vehicle accident.
