Imphal, April 25 2010:
Rainstorm continued to wreak havoc at various localities across the State leading to heavy losses of properties yesterday.
The violent storm ravaged 10 houses to the ground and partly damaged around 50 houses at various localities under Irong Chesaba Gram Panchayat of Thoubal district.
The affected families are taking shelter at the residences of the Ward Members of the Gram Panchayat, said a press release issued by the Pradhan.
The violent storm also blew away the ceiling of M/s Th Sorojini Filling Station at Khangabok of the same district.

The ceiling was newly fixed at the roof of the oil station with canopy sheets with an estimated amount of Rs 7 lakh.
The ceiling had also been blown away earlier on March 27 by another gale.
In yesterday's storm, the CGI sheets of the staff quarters were also partly blown away.
The rainstorm also partly damaged 47 houses, 155 extended homesteads and 38 rearing sheds at different localities under Khangabok Part-I Gram Panchayat.
Elected representatives of the Gram Panchayat along with youth club members inspected the affected sites today, said a press release of the Pradhan.
More than 20 houses, area peikai, church, school and anganwadi centre buildings were also ravaged by the gale at Longsai village of Tamenglong district.
Longsai Village Authority has urged the State Government to extend aid to homeless villagers and affected people.
In Senapati district, a hailstorm damaged 15 houses, one community hall, parts of a school building and vegetable and fruit plantation at Chuangphun (Nunggang) village.
A press release of the village authority urged the State Government to extend necessary aid to the storm affected families.
The storm also swept away 23 houses at Taosang village of Tamenglong district.
A release of Taosang Village Authority said that 18 houses were damaged on April 16 by another storm.
It urged upon the State Government to extend relief materials and financial help to the affected villagers.
Many houses were damaged and trees uprooted at Wangoi, Tairenpokpi and Mayang Imphal.
Meanwhile, social worker N Itomba Meetei extended assistance to victims of the rainstorm that lashed the localities of Keirao A/C.The storm damaged 18 houses at Saijin Pallak, two houses at Sambal Tangkhul, 25 houses at Waithou Chiru.
Khathingla Tangkhul (60) escaped unhurt when his house collapsed on him with the impact of the storm.
