CPI lambasts Cong Govts

Comparing the Congress-led UPA Gover-nment and Congress Govern- ment of Manipur to a hospital which has no medicine, CPI National Secretary Atul Kumar Anjan has lambasted both the State Government as well as the Central Government.
Speaking to media persons at Irabot Bhavan here yesterday, Atul Kumar Anjan said that there is no justice under Congress both in Manipur and at Centre.
Governance both at the Centre and the State has failed miserably and the party in power has been doing nothing for the people's welfare.
Their mode of governance is comparable to a house in which the kitchen fire is not burning any more.
CPI would not accept the ordinance brought out by the UPA Government in defiance of the Supreme Court ruling which was aimed at penalising MPs and MLAs with criminal records.
Apart from penalising MLAs and MPs with criminal records, politicians involved in corruption cases and other major scams should not be allowed to contest elections, asserted Atul Kumar Anjan.
Atul Kumar who is also the general secretary of the All India Kishan Sabha decried that the ordinance brought out by Congress-led UPA Government is being supported by BJP in the Rajya Sabha which is nothing but manifestation of its double standard.
Alleging that BJP is not a genuine political party of the country but a criminalised party, Atul Kumar remarked that AICC vice-president has started adding new twists and turns to the ordinance.
Talking about the controversial border fencing, Atul Kumar stated that the border fencing work should be put on hold until the disputes between India and Myanmar over the international boundary are settled permanently.
He asserted that no part of Manipur's territory should be gifted away to Myanmar.
Even though the National Food Security Act has been enacted, it would provide little benefit to the people of North East region where the financial condition of respective states are not healthy, and highways and other infrastructure are least developed.
In place of the Act's target to provide 5 Kgs of rice at Rs 3 per Kg to each beneficiary, CPI would demand provision of 35 Kgs of rice at Rs 2 per per Kg to each beneficiary every month.
Saying that efforts are on to constitute a political front excluding Congress and BJP ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha election, the CPI leader said that the party would not put up any tainted individual in the forthcoming election as its candidate.
Although the Government of Manipur has implemented 6th Pay Commission for its employees, the Government has been deliberately creating a number of pay anomalies thereby denying full benefits of the 6th Pay Commission's recommendations.
He also appealed to all UG groups of Manipur to come over-ground in the interest of peace and development of the State.
