Imphal, April 25 2025:
Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) convenor Khuraijam Athouba has urged people to attend a May 3 meeting at Khuman Lampak to pass a public resolution on the Manipur crisis, saying it will strengthen the Committee's stance against the Government of India.
He made the appeal during a public meeting held at Moirang Kumam Leikai Community Hall today.
The meeting was organised by COCOMI Moirang branch in association with different local clubs and women organisations today.
Addressing the meeting, Athouba said that all Meetei village volunteers have surrendered their weapons following the Governor's appeal after the imposition of President's Rule in the State.
However, Athouba alleged that the Governor has taken no action against Kuki militants, despite their declaration that they won't cooperate until their demands are met.
He also alleged that the Government of India (GoI) has turned a blind eye to CoTU's obstruction to the efforts to clear roads and highways from March 8, despite attacks on security personnel.
Accusing the GoI of taking the side of Kuki militants, he added that tens of thousands of displaced people are still languishing in relief camps unable to return home.
Athouba also said that the Centre has been making random statements without taking any meaningful action to resolve the crisis.
It is time for the people to unite and stand against the Centre, he said, appealing to the people to attend the meeting scheduled for May 3 .
A similar meeting was also held at other places such as Lamsang, Khurai, Ghari, Laisoi Relief Camp, Moirang, Torbung Bangla etc .
