MU hosts Viksit Bharat District-Level Youth Parliamentary Festival 2025

Manipur University, Canchipur hosted the Viksit Bharat District-Level Youth Parliamentary Festival 2025 at its Court Hall on Saturday.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Prof N Lokendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor, MU; Sarangthem Manaobi, retired IPS officer; and Dr Salam Danachandra Singh, Deputy Director of NYK, Imphal West, as presidium members.
According to a release issued by NSS Cell, MU, the event commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp, followed by a welcome address by Dr Laishram Santosh Singh, Programme Convenor of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliamentary Festival 2025.At the event, Sarangthem Manaobi inspired the participants by emphasizing that this festival provides youth an opportunity to showcase their talents, skills, and leadership qualities.
He encouraged them to view themselves as the future of the nation and to remain motivated in their endeavors.
Prof N Lokendra Singh spoke about the transformative role of youth in nation-building and the growth of the National Youth Parliament Festival (NYPF) since its inception in 2019 .
He also emphasized that the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament is not merely a platform for presenting ideas but for creating tangible solutions.
Notably, a total of 71 applicants participated in the festival, representing various 5 districts namely Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, and Kakching.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has designated five Nodal Institutes in the State of Manipur, each responsible for organising district-level rounds of the festival.
Manipur University covered Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, and Kakching districts; Don Bosco Maram covered Senapati and Kangpokpi districts; St Joseph's College Ukhrul covered Ukhrul and Kamjong districts; SEMCO College covered Tamenglong and Chandel districts; and Jadonang Memorial College covered Noney, Churachandpur, and Pherzawl districts.
The district-level round for all five Nodal Institutes concluded with the selection of candidates for the State-Level Round, scheduled to be held on March 26, 2025, at the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
