Legal aid, medical camps held at relief camp

Imphal, May 13 2025:
Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA), in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Imphal West and the Directorate of Health Services, organised a promotional legal aid and awareness campaign cum free medical camp at Konthoujam Makha Khabam High School relief camp in Imphal West on Monday.
According to a press release issued by MASLSA, the programme was held as part of an initiative to extend legal services and healthcare to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) staying in relief camps across the state.
A delegation led by chief justice of High Court of Manipur, justice D Krishnakumar, along with MASLSA executive chairman justice A Bimol Singh, and justice A Guneshwar Sharma, visited the camp and distributed relief materials to the violence-affected residents.
The camp also included a free medical check-up conducted in coordination with the Directorate of Health Services and the office of Imphal West chief medical officer.
In addition to general medical consultations, specific treatments and medicines were provided to those in need.
Items distributed included mosquito nets, torches, diapers, infant milk, sanitary pads, soaps, mosquito coils, footballs and skipping ropes, as well as clothes and toys for children.
The chief justice also handed out health cards to seven beneficiaries.
High Court registrar general Ojesh Mutum, DLSA Imphal West chairman Y Rother, MASLSA member secretary Alek Muivah, Bar Council of Manipur chairman S Brajabihari Singh, All Manipur Bar Associa-tion president P Tomcha, DLSA Imphal West secretary A Tarunakumari Devi, DC in-charge Nivedita Lairenlakpam and district nodal officer Dr Maibam Rocky were also present on the occasion.
The programme is a continuation of the legal aid and medical outreach initiated by Supreme Court judge and National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) executive chairman Justice BR Gavai during his visit to the state in March.
Justice A Bimol Singh expressed gratitude for NALSA's support and informed that similar campaigns will be extended to all remaining relief camps in the state.
