Imphal, June 10 2025:
The Federation of Haomee (FoH) has said that the Centre should honour the resolution of the State Assembly to withdraw from Suspension of Operation (SoO) with Kuki militants last year.
FoH in a statement recalled that the State Assembly in a historic move, resolved to withdraw from SoO with 25 Kuki militant groups including 17 groups under KNO and 8 under UPF.
Notably, the State Government entered into the SoO agreement in 2008.The Centre should honour the resolution of the State Assembly and take a similar stance, it said.
Asking as to why the Government of India had entered into the SoO agreement with militant groups which are also seeking their rights in Myanmar, FoH said these groups had openly claimed that they are India's ally and not waging war against India.
These militant groups have taken up arms only to plunder, kill innocent people and carry out drug business freely, it said.
Such an agreement only emboldens them to carry out illicit activities freely in the State and usurp the historical territory left behind by our forefathers, it observed.
With the Government leaving these groups unchecked over the years, they have racked up excess armoury and provided extensive training to their cadres who have now turned against the indigenous settlers and have been carrying out all inhuman activities, it said.
In light of the development, the State Assembly arrived at the resolution to withdraw from the then Tripartite SoO agreement last year, it said while adding that the Centre also should not entertain any demand against Manipur during the dialogue or meeting with the Kuki militant groups.
