Imphal, March 07 2024: Doctors and staff of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, JNIMS have called off the proposed two-day closure of OPD and routine OT of the Department on March 7 and 8 .

This was stated by Professor L Deben, Director, JNIMS while addressing a press conference at JNIMS Administrative Block today.

The strike was called by the staff of Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, JNIMS alleging harassment of the medical fraternity by the patient party of a woman who died shortly after childbirth at JNIMS recently.

However, the proposed closure/strike was withdrawn after the family members of the deceased woman claimed her mortal remains today after coming to an agreement with the CSOs and doctors.

Professor L Deben expressed grief at the unfortunate death of the woman and proceeded to thank the doctors and staff of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology for withdrawing the strike.
