Imphal, December 03 2010: In protest against the abduction of five PHED officials and demanding their safe release, protest demonstrations were staged at five different locations today.

Employees of PHED staged a protest demonstration within their office complex urging the Government to negotiate with KCPMC in order to secure safe release of the abducted officials.

Notably, KCP-MC, through a press release issued by its publicity and information secretary Paikhomba, claimed responsibility for the abduction of the PHED officials including two Assistant Engineers.

The protesters put up placards which read as "Don't make employees scapegoat", "Ensure protection of employees", "Government should ensure safe release of the abducted officials" etc.

Similar protest demonstrations urging for the safe release of the abducted officials were also staged at Uripok, Yaiskul, Pishum and Sangakpham today.

The five PHED officials were abducted from Mayangkhang area on their way to Senapati for inauguration of a water supply scheme at Tadubi on November 28 .

However, police recovered the Bolero jeep in which the officials were travelling from Daili village on the same day.

Meanwhile, a press release issued by the Keirang Mamang Leikai Youth Union Club has appealed to all concerned to release the abducted officials in the interest of their families and/or on the ground of humanity.
