One Supervisor of the Simplex Project Private Limited told The Sangai Express that the Sanjenthong bridge is now complete by almost 90 per cent.
All the hangers have been installed and construction of slabs which began today would take just 30 hours but its curing period is 20 days.
Efforts are on to complete construction of footpath on either side of the bridge at the earliest.
Electrification and beautification works can be completed ahead of the Sangai Festival, the supervisor exuded.
However, heavy vehicles would not be allowed to cross the new bridge for some time even though there would be no problem for light vehicles and pedestrians.
Notably, construction of the new Sanjenthong bridge started on May 30, 2014 with the Simplex Project Private Limited as the executing agency.
Since then the deadline or expected date of completion was postponed repeatedly.
The bridge which would have four lanes is 22.40 meters in breadth, 55.80 meters in length and it would have footpath five meters in breadth on either side.
The estimated cost of the bridge is Rs 29 crore.
