Interfaith prayer held

The Interfaith Forum for Peace and Harmony (IFPH) Manipur organised an interfaith prayer session with Governor Anusuiya Uikey in the Banquet Hall of Raj Bhavan, Imphal today.
Twenty-five members of the IFPH representing Brahmakumaris, Christians, Hindu Vaishnavites, Jains, Tinkao Ragwang Chapriaks and Sanamahis took turns to offer special prayers in different languages for peaceful coexistence of the people in Manipur, said a statement issued by IFPH, Manipur.
The prayer session began with a special invocation prayer sung with 'Pena' (traditional stringed musical instrument) followed by prayers for blessings from Lainingthou Sanamahi and a pledge for non-violence.
Lauding the initiative of the Forum, the Governor said that such interfaith prayer sessions by all religious communities will have a special impact in changing the turbulent environment in the State.
She further encouraged the IFPH to carry out such interfaith prayers in all relief camps where people are suffering on a daily basis and expressed her willingness to join the Forum's initiative wherever possible.
Meanwhile, Deben Bachaspatimayum, convenor, IFPH expressed hope that divine intervention will help assuage the suffering of the thousands of people in relief camps.
