The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has said that the ruling of the Supreme Court which stayed the conviction of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is a reaffirmation that truth always triumphs.
Addressing the media at Congress Bhavan today, MPCC president K Meghachandra said that Rahul Gandhi will raise the issue of Manipur violence at Parliament and hopefully bring some positive changes in the strife-torn State.
Accusing the BJP of taking control of all important institutions such as Enforcement Directorate, CBI and even lower Courts and undermining the ethos of democracy, Meghachandra claimed that Rahul Gandhi was also convicted by a Surat Court in a defamation case for speaking against corruption.
Everybody knows under whose influence Rahul Gandhi was convicted, he added.
The ruling of the Supreme Court has proven that there still is law in the country, the MPCC chief said.
Saying that Rahul Gandhi has been working at his level best to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur and he played a big role in sending the MPs of Opposition bloc INDIA to the State recently, K Meghachandra hoped for speedy restoration of MP status of the Congress leader (Rahul Gandhi) so that he can he can speak about Manipur at Parliament.
Rahul Gandhi has also interacted with several displaced people at relief camps during his visit to Manipur , the MPCC chief recalled.
