All set for vaccination under Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 5.0 : State Mission Director

Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 5.0 is set to kick off in Manipur from August 7 onwards.
This was informed by Dr Somorjit Ningombam, State Mission Director, State Health Society, National Health Mission at the Lamphel office of the Directorate of Health Service today.
Under the 5.0 edition of the Intensified Mission Indradhanush, the State Mission Director is planning to inoculate children upto 5 years and pregnant women and eliminate Measles Rubella in any defined geographical area of Manipur.
Speaking to media, the State Mission Director said that IMI is a special vaccination programme implemented by the Government of India and IMI 5.0 specially aims at vaccinating children upto 5 years and pregnant women who missed their doses earlier.
Intensified Mission Indradhanush is set to be completed in three rounds starting from August 7 across the 16 districts of the State.
The first round will continue till August 12 while the second round will be conducted from September 11 to 16 and the third round from October 9 to 14 this year, he said.
The three round immunization programme helps children upto five years and pregnant women fight as many as 12 diseases.
The Directorate targets to cover all 3,48,023 individuals including 46, 561 pregnant women in these three rounds, he said.
"Through these three rounds of vaccination, we aim to build a healthy society, free from any vaccine-preventable diseases among our children," he said while appealing to all pregnant women and parents to avail the facility and make the programme successful.
They will also reach out to children and pregnant women in relief camps, he added.
Some people skip their latter doses after getting their first dose, he observed and appealed to all to complete the specified number of doses to receive full benefit of the vaccination programme.
He added that pregnant women who received all three doses have a very high chance of delivering exceptionally healthy babies.
