Imphal, August 04 2023:
Many precious lives have been lost due to an unwanted ethnic conflict due to acts of narco-terrorism by illegal immigrants.
Universal Mothers' Organisation respects the departed souls of all those killed in the conflict and hope that their final rites would be conducted in accordance to their respective religion and custom.
In a statement, UMO said that there has been no amicable solution to the ethnic conflict which broke out on May 3.Amid this, many lives have been lost while many others remain missing.
Amongst the dead, there are also many whose final rites have yet to be performed.
It is the wish of the mothers to have the dead respected and their final rites performed as per their respective religion and customs.
UMO then urged for Kuki CSOs and stakeholders concerned to hand over the bodies of Meitei people, who died in Kuki-dominated areas and have yet to be recovered, along with those missing.
The mothers will take the responsibility and ensure that the bodies of Kukis who died in the valley during the conflict, return to their original homes, it stated.
