Imphal, August 04 2023:
An executive meeting of the Manipur Awang Chingkhei Kanba Clubs & Meirapaibi Apunba Lup (MACKCMAL) has resolved to compile a record of documents/data of all manners of atrocities committed by Kuki militants since the eruption of violence in the State on May 3 .
According to a statement issued by MACKCMAL, the public meeting was held at Sawombung Gate Community Hall today.
The atrocities mentioned above include arson, injuries, death, violence against women etc among others.
In this regard, MACKCMAL has urged the public to gather the data and submit them to the respective co-convenors of their region.
These, in turn, will be submitted to MACKCMAL convenor N Somorjit, it said.
Secondly, it was resolved to support the steps taken by the conglomerate body of organizations in 27 Assembly Constituencies to urge the Manipur State Assembly to present a resolution against separate administration at the monsoon session of the Parliament.
Thirdly, MACKCMAL maintained that the public widely supports the State Government's stand to oppose the move to hold a mass burial programme of 35 deceased Kukis at Torbung Bangla.
However, it asserted that the Government should not dump the responsibility of halting the burial programme at Torbung Bangla to the public.
The Government must take the responsibility of stopping this mass burial, failing which, the public will rise against the administration and hold it accountable for a massive failure, MACKCMAL added.
Lastly, MACKCMAL resolved to take all these steps in collaboration with womens' organisations, youth clubs and student bodies under the jurisdiction of MACKCMAL.
