Full state honours given to martyred MR jawan

Along with paying rich floral tributes, the body of 6th Bn Manipur Rifles jawan Tourangbam Rishikumar was given full state honours at Manipur Police Memorial at 1st MR, on Friday.
The body of rifleman Rishikumar was brought to the Police Memorial from RIMS mortuary by family members and officials of 6th MR where floral tributes were offered.
Personnel of 1st Manipur Rifles also paid gun salute to Rishikumar after which the mortal remains was taken to his hometown in Wangjing Lamding.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the solemn event, DGP Rajiv Singh shared the grief and sorrow of the bereaved family.
Expressing remorse over loss the rifleman, the police chief assured that the government will take all measures to help and take care of family of the deceased.
He also urged the public to extend cooperation to the police in restoring peace and harmony in the state and all concerned to desist from snatching arms from the police.
The function was also attended by works minister Govindas Konthoujam, social welfare minister Heikham Dingo, Lamlai MLA Ibomcha, Khangabok MLA Okram Surjakumar and top officials of BSF and Manipur police.
Later, the mortal remains of Rishikumar, who was killed in bring by Kuki militants at Senjam Chirang on Thursday morning, was laid to rest at his birthplace Wangjing Lamding Laishram Leikai.
After conducting post mortem examination and paying full state and military honours, the lifeless body of Rishikumar was brought to his native village en-route to which large number of people lined up along National Highway 102 to pay their last respects.
Thoubal SP Sachidananda Soibam, DIG Range-II Jogeshchandra Haobijam, 3rd IRB officials, MLA O Surjakumar and representatives of different organisations took part in paying respect to 'Athouba' Tourangbam Rishikumar.
