Imphal, August 04 2023:
Assam Rifles strongly refuted the news published by 'The Sangai Express' on August 1 which alleged Assam Rifles for supporting Kuki miscreants in Kadangband region.
As per the statement by the Assam Rifles, the troops of Assam Rifles have been deployed at NSU and Munli village in the foothills of this area namely Kadangband, Koutruk, Senjam Chirang and Kanto Sabal to create a buffer zone between village defence volunteers on hilltop and the village Meitei defence volunteers.
Creation of buffer zone by Assam Rifles has ensured no occurrence of any major firing incident since 12 July, 2023.In addition, with the dedicated efforts of Assam Rifles, the farmers of both communities have a sense of security and have started farming in this area.
Secondly, Assam Rifles along with CAPF & Police has been destroying bunkers manned by armed miscreants regardless of the community that they belong to.
Till date, a total of 37 bunkers have been destructed by the joint team of Assam Rifles, CAPF and Police which includes 15 bunkers of Meitei miscreants and 22 bunkers of Kuki miscreants in the area of responsibility of 22 Assam Rifles, which again reiterates Assam Rifles as a 'fair and unbiased' force.
Assam Rifles expressed deep concerns over the unverified and baseless allegations of village defence volunteers and various media houses regarding Kuki miscreants being supported by Assam Rifles.
