Imphal, April 21 2025:
Reaffirming its commitment to the physical and emotional well-being of its personnel, Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), conducted a series of Pranayam and Yogasana sessions across the state on Monday.
According to a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S), the series, held from April 10 to 21 across multiple garrisons, was led by 80-year-old certified yoga instructor Padmini Jog from Nagpur, Maharashtra.
Her energy, wisdom and guidance left a deep impression on the troops, families and students who participated.
A total of 1,845 individuals took part in the sessions, which promoted yoga as a powerful tool for stress management, emotional stability and holistic health.
The final leg of the initiative took place at Mantripukhri Garrison on Monday, where 375 troops and family members participated in a revitalising session focusing on physical well-being and inner balance.
The event underscored the relevance of yoga as a daily discipline for armed forces personnel, whose demanding routines often provide little space for mental decompression.
Earlier, on April 18, two sessions were conducted at Ukhrul and Sangshak Garrisons.
The morning session at Ukhrul focused on stress reduction and mental clarity, while the evening session at Sangshak emphasised emotional regulation and the benefits of pranayam in academic and family life.
A total of 270 troops, 69 family members and 50 children participated.
On April 16, three back-to-back sessions were held at Keithalmanbi Garrison for troops, students and teachers of Assam Rifles Public School, and families.
With 535 individuals participating, the sessions centred on the role of yoga in emotional balance and family harmony.
From April 13 to 15, a three-day Yoga Shivir at Kakching Garrison saw the participation of 325 personnel, families and ARPS Kakching students.
The programme concluded with an interactive Q&A and a felicitation of Padmini Jog.
The campaign had begun on April 10 at Pallel, Modi and Moreh Garrisons, with over 340 participants being introduced to the importance of pranayam for mental resilience in operational environments, the statement added.
