Imphal, April 21 2025:
Assam Rifles saved the life of a two-year-old girl from the remote village of Grihang in Kamjong district after she accidentally fell into a water tank early Monday morning.
A statement issued by PRO IGAR (South) said that the incident occurred around 5:40 am in one of the most inaccessible regions of the state, where limited road access and a complete lack of air connectivity make emergency medical support nearly impossible.
On receiving a distress call, Assam Rifles troops responded immediately.
Medical personnel stabilised the child, identified as Chuishut, with first aid and swiftly coordinated an air evacuation by military helicopter to Imphal.
The child was admitted to the Assam Rifles Military Hospital in Mantripukhri, where timely paediatric care brought her out of grave danger.
Officials said any delay could have proven fatal.
Overwhelmed with emotion, the child's parents expressed their gratitude: "We thought we were going to lose her.
Assam Rifles gave her back to us," the statement added.
