Govt to provide quality healthcare services in the state: CM

Imphal, December 23 2018: Chief Minister N.Biren Singh said that Manipur is one of the progressive states in the field of health sector and the present government is trying its best to provide quality and better healthcare services to the people of the State.

This was stated by him at the inaugural function of 29th edition of NEOGSCON (North-east Obstetrics and Gynaecological Societies Conference) held at JNIMS Auditorium, JNIMS Imphal today.

The Conference is organised by Imphal Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society (IOGS) .

Speaking as Chief Guest of the function, Chief Minister said that Manipur has one of the lowest Infant mortality rate in the country and Maternal Mortality rate is around 60 per 1 lakh live births as compared to the Indian MMR of about 178 maternal deaths per 1 Lakh live births.

Congratulating the Obstetrics and Gynaecologists of the State, Chief Minister said that such figures speak volumes of the amount of dedication and work being done by the Obstetricians and Paediatricians in our State.

Chief Minister mentioned that health care system is robust and resilient to ensure that socio-economic development is inclusive and growth progressive.

Since the installation of the government, there has been a constant endeavour of the Government in spite of the resource constraints to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure, institutions and personnel in the State, he added.

Chief Minister stated that the government is trying its best to ensure that good medical facilities are available across the State, especially in the remote and interior areas.

To ensure inclusive growth and the welfare of the people, the Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang, CMHT was introduced to provide better healthcare services to the people of the State.

The government is making its sincere efforts to introduce Air Ambulance service in the State, he added.

CMHT is being implemented in RIMS, JNIMS and other empanelled private hospitals in the State.

He informed that in JNIMS, a total of around 1915 patients have benefitted under the scheme with 56 patients presently undergoing treatment in JNIMS.

Around 105 patients have benefitted under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Ayushman Bharat in JNIMS.

Stating that government and its medical Institutions alone cannot meet all the health care needs of the people in the State, he mentioned that there has to be a collaborative and cooperative effort between the government and private healthcare practitioners and institutions to provide quality healthcare to the people of the State.

Mentioning about the transit accommodations of the doctors and medical practitioners in the hill and remote areas of the State, Chief Minister stated that the government has started construction of transit accommodations for doctors and teachers in the hill areas of the State.

Such construction would be completed soon, he added.

In order to prevent mob violence in the State, Chief Minister stated that the Manipur Protection from Mob Violence Bill, 2018 was passed in the Manipur Legislative Assembly recently.

President of Federation of Obstetric & Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) Dr.Jaideep Malhotra, Director of RIMS Prof..AShanta Singh, Director of JNIMS Prof.Th.Bhimo Singh, Prof.Ng.

Indrakumar Singh, members of FOGSI and IOGS and others attended the function.

The Conference is being organised under the theme "High Risk Pregnancies, Early Detection, An Unmet need" .
